The Bellevue Light Rail Shuttle pilot provided rides to 937 passengers in August, connecting travelers from the Bellevue Downtown light rail station to hotels, restaurants, shopping, parks and other destinations across the city. During the first month of service, a Visit Bellevue employee was stationed at the pickup area to welcome arriving passengers, explain the program and direct them to the complimentary shuttle.
The pilot’s launch generated significant regional media attention, with coverage from The Seattle Times, KIRO 7, the Puget Sound Business Journal, GeekWire and Downtown Bellevue Network. Sound Transit also featured the shuttle online and promoted the service at light rail stations along the 2 Line, helping riders learn about the connection before arriving in downtown Bellevue.
The shuttle’s two brightly designed Volkswagen ID. Buzz vehicles can now be spotted traveling throughout Bellevue, providing a visible and convenient connection between light rail and the places visitors want to explore. The free electric shuttle operates Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., with no app, reservation or fare required. The pilot is powered by Amazon and supported by Visit Bellevue, Circuit, the City of Bellevue and Sound Transit through December 2026.
